not really, but I laid out new procedures and failsafes to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Did you remember to write in a clause that you get to set them on fire if they do? In the small print, of course.

They say you rise to the level of your own incompetence. Also, if you're the only one who can do your job, you'll never be promoted. Which is all some backhanded way to say, congratulations. Enjoy your weekend!

sheeeeit, you think I work in automotive marketing and haven't mastered the fine art of the disclaimer. They won't know which bus ran over them before they spontaneously combust and I cook Jiffy Pop over their screaming bodies.
Just like what happens in an F and I office at your local dealer if you don't read the fine print

Yes, woo. Go get yourself some form of nice beer and enjoy the weekend.
My accounting department just gave me shit about a dinner receipt from last night in NYC. After working from 6am to 10:30 PM (day was a disaster for reasons not attributable to my company) I went to a late night place and got Chinese. Keep in mind I am always under my allotted food allowance, sometimes by a lot. If I'm alone I might just get food for my hotel room and do that, etc.
I got shit about only having a credit card receipt and not an itemized receipt from the Chinese place, to the tune of $21.79.
I get why they do this; so people can't abuse the system. But they know that I don't dick around and always do what I can to save $ when I'm in the field.
They gave me a lecture about how they don't know what I bought and blah blah blah.
So I told them I bought $20 worth of crack and a pack of fucking Rolos, and that they can find some other sucker to give up his personal time to put out a dumpster fire for the company. They put the expense right in with no further questions. They are nice people to work with and I don't like having to take that tone but I got screwed enough yesterday, I don't need any further drama.

dude

so well put it isn't funny, but still funny. Haha. I know the feeling though, I got denied expense once because I had one beer with dinner one night, that was cheaper than a soda, at my last job. I didnt last much longer for other reasons, but it was the beginning of the end. This job I entertain clients enough that it isnt even looked at crooked.

I feel your pain. My employer is the same way - must have the itemized receipt. Utter BS, and none of their GD business what I ate, but I like my job too much otherwise to complain too loudly. But seriously, they can't trust me not to order booze? I don't even drink enough to bother with, and never while I am on the road.

I get why they do it. Not just for booze but so that people don't expense personal items on the receipt as well. But in no way am I one of those people and I always end up taking a lot less than I am supposed to be entitled to. That's what really burned me.

Same here, even though my companies daily limits are stupid low, I still rarely meet them.
I'll give you the worst example ever - when I first started, I had to be in our office a lot - I normally work from home, 125 miles away. So they put me up when I am down there. One time, my usual hotel was full, so I ended up at this crack den Red Roof Inn in Framingham, MA. This place was better than $40/n cheaper than the usual. But they did not have free Internet. I expensed one night of $10 Internet while I was there, and got a nastygram for it. "I should do all activities needing Internet access from the office before I go to the hotel". Well, fine, I will NEVER stay at that cheap a hotel again. I could have stayed at a hotel $50 MORE expensive for the room, and nobody would have said a word. Unreal.
